The International Court of Justice — the highest court in the world — just
ruled that governments must take action to protect us from climate
change.^1

Donald Trump is doing the exact opposite. He’s tearing up our country’s
commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement, clawing back federal funding
for wind and solar projects, and moving to undo just about every action
the U.S. has ever taken to fight the climate crisis.

But while Trump abandons his responsibilities to climate and communities,
state governments can still act. They just need to hear from you.

States can make a big difference for our planet. Even if Trump blocks
federal action on climate for the rest of his term, state and local
governments can reduce pollution enough to keep the entire country on
track to hit key climate targets.^2

We’re asking states to pass laws to:

* Reduce climate pollution in their states,
* Expand wind and solar and speed up the transition to renewable energy,
* Force climate polluters to pick up the tab for cleanup,
* Defend and expand environmental justice efforts,
* And more…

We need bold leadership now. While the federal government fails to act,
governors have a responsibility to take the lead on climate action.
