John,

The Senate could soon vote on a dangerous voter suppression bill that would disenfranchise millions of Americans, especially the working-class, rural voters, and people of color.

The SAVE Act, which already passed the House earlier this year, would require every American to present a passport, birth certificate, or naturalization papers just to register or re-register to vote.

Nearly 21 million Americans don’t have ready access to these papers. For many married women, especially seniors, birth certificates often don't match the name on their driver's license.

Make no mistake: this bill is one of the biggest threats to voting rights in a generation . It’s a clear attempt to silence the voices of our community – but together we CAN stop it from becoming law.

Let’s overwhelm all our Senators with opposition to the SAVE Act. Will you send an urgent message now demanding your senators vote NO on this voter suppression bill? [[link removed]]

Right now, states like Texas are trying to gerrymander their U.S. House districts in order to take the voice away from voters and further marginalize communities of color. The SAVE Act would stack the deck even further, making it harder for people like us – working women, communities of color, young voters – to cast a ballot in the first place.

Many low-wage and domestic workers do not have regular and consistent work hours and most live paycheck to paycheck. Navigating the maze of paperwork requirements and waiting in line for new documents could cost them their job, or force them to choose between losing pay or having their say at the ballot box.

This isn’t an isolated attack – it's part of a relentless assault on our democracy and our rights . When people in power can pick and choose who participates, our democracy is in danger. The SAVE Act is a brazen attempt to tip the scales. But the caregiving community deserves a voice in the future we are building – free from unfair obstacles.

Will you urgently add your name and tell your senators: Vote NO on the SAVE Act? [[link removed]]

Our power lies in our unity. Let’s come together to protect the freedom to vote for every American – no matter their job, their name, or their zip code.

As always, thanks for all you do,

NDWA

The majority of domestic workers sit at the center of some of our nation’s most decisive issues because of who they are and what they do: they are women – mostly women of color, immigrants, mothers, and low-wage workers. They are impacted by almost every policy affecting the future of our economy, democracy and country.

Domestic workers can lead us toward a new, inclusive vision for the future for all of us -- and your grassroots support is the fuel that can get us there.
