The unelected and unaccountable ICE “Czar” Tom Homan bragged: “Trump doesn’t have a limitation on his authority.” 

And now MAGA politicians have a new dystopian dream for our National Guard: not to respond to disasters, not to protect our communities — but to send soldiers into our cities and communities to patrol us under the false pretense of “fighting crime.” 

Trump is flooding the streets of Washington, D.C. with soldiers to ship homeless people out of sight. 

I enlisted in the Army National Guard to defend our country and help people in times of need. Turning our military against the poor, the desolate, the broken — that’s cruel and not consistent with American values. 

We should be solving homelessness by tackling affordability, building homes, expanding mental health care, and creating good jobs — not weaponizing the military against the most vulnerable.

We should be combating crime by lifting people out of poverty, fighting for fantastic education for every child no matter their zip code, and helping states and cities invest in a better trained police force.

We cannot accept this as a new normal. We need to fight. This is how our freedoms are taken away—one corrosive act at a time. 

I’m running for Congress to protect people, defend dignity, and stand up to those who want to turn our institutions into tools of fear. But I cannot do this alone—I need you with me:
