From her time as one of the only black public finance lawyers in Alabama, when she delivered financing for new campus facilities at Alabama State University, Tuskegee University, and Stillman College, to her work as Congresswoman for Alabama’s 7th District, Terri Sewell has delivered results every step of the way. Folks,

I’ve spent my entire career fighting to protect the sacred right to vote — because I represent Selma, Alabama, the birthplace of the Voting Rights Movement.

I’ve stood on the Edmund Pettus Bridge every year to honor the Foot Soldiers who marched and bled for the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

And I’ve spent every term in Congress championing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act , to restore and strengthen those protections after the Supreme Court gutted them.

So when I say what’s happening in Texas right now is a threat to everything we’ve fought for, I mean it.

Texas Republicans, backed by Donald Trump, are trying to redraw congressional maps to guarantee themselves five new GOP seats —not through elections, but through manipulation.

In response, Texas Democrats have done something extraordinary: they walked out. They left the state. They broke quorum to stop this theft of power.

They’re still holding the line — being fined $500 a day, smeared in their districts, and living far from home.

But here’s the truth: without help, they can’t keep going.

That’s why I’m asking—one last time—for you to support them with a split contribution between my campaign and the Texas Democratic Party.

This is why I fight. It’s why I authored the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. It’s why I represent Selma. And it’s why I’m asking you to stand with those who are now on the front lines of the same fight — because we don’t just honor the legacy of voting rights, we live it.

Let’s do this together.

With gratitude and determination,

Rep. Terri Sewell
