We officially have a Republican opponent in this race: Former Illinois GOP Chairman Don Tracy.

If you’re wondering who Don Tracy is, here’s a bit of insight: When Roe v. Wade was overturned, he didn’t just stay silent. He celebrated. He said:

“Today, millions of prayers have been answered.”

You read that right. In a world where women are losing their right to make personal health care decisions, he’s celebrating? He’s celebrating forcing women and girls to carry pregnancies against their will. He’s celebrating turning back the clock on decades of progress.

That is not the type of leader Illinois needs or deserves. And I will fight every single day to make sure it never becomes our reality.

Trump and his allies despise Governor Pritzker and my administration, and Republicans see Illinois as their next big target — Don Tracy thinks he can be the one to win this seat and drag us backwards. But Illinois is a firewall. We will not go backward.
