A crisis is unfolding in Texas — and it’s a battle for the future of our democracy.
Republicans, under pressure from Donald Trump, are pushing a mid-decade redistricting plan that could add five new GOP congressional seats, tipping the scales in Washington before voters have their say.
But Democrats aren’t just standing by and giving in. Texas lawmakers are fighting back — even fleeing the state, and putting their own jobs and freedom on the line — to block the vote.
And now, Democratic leaders in California, New York, and elsewhere are looking at their options to beat the Republicans at their own game.

It’s not just Texas’ fight. Blue states are preparing to push back with fair maps of their own, demanding that voters choose their representatives and not the other way around.
But it’s risky. Our colleagues in Texas face fines, arrest warrants, and legal threats. They’re putting it all on the line, and we must stand with them.
