Bernie's Climate Plan is Out — and it's a Game Changer

This morning, U.S Senator and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders released a campaign climate and energy plan that would:

Ban fracking
Halt new fossil fuel extraction on federal lands
Ban fossil fuel imports and exports
Rebuild water infrastructure through the WATER Act
Break up corporate factory farming
Require 100 percent clean, renewable energy-sourced electricity and transportation by 2030

Fighting the Petrochemical Plan

The Department of Energy (DOE) wants to prioritize petrochemical buildouts in Appalachia. But there’s some good news: Earlier this summer, the House of Representatives passed an amendment filed by Reps Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) stating that funds used by the DOE clean energy program cannot be used to support any projects that do not decrease greenhouse gas emissions.

As the amendment moves toward the Senate we’re calling on all Senators, including those who are presidential hopefuls, to discuss and clearly oppose this maddening new plan

and to commit to climate change solutions that will put an end to petrochemical buildouts.

If these candidates want to tout environmental agendas, they have an obligation to announce support for this amendment.


EPA Attempts to Weaken Clean Water Act

The Clean Water Act is responsible for some significant improvements in public health and safety that we've seen over the years — but now it's under threat.

Earlier this month, EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler signed a new regulatory rollback of Clean Water Act protections in an attempt to implement a new approach to permitting dangerous fossil fuel infrastructure projects that would weaken the ability of states to protect their waters.
