TAMMY BALDWIN FOR SENATE

Today marks the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act, which was signed into law by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt as part of the New Deal.

This landmark legislation represents a promise to generations of hardworking Americans; that everyone deserves to retire in dignity.

On the campaign trail, Donald Trump promised in state after state, interview after interview, that he wouldn’t touch Social Security. Yet now that his Big, Ugly Bill has passed, the benefits that people work their entire lives for will be slashed.

I’m working with Senate Democrats to fight back against these cuts to Social Security. 1.3 million Wisconsinites receive Social Security benefits, and I’m not going to let right-wing leaders take these benefits away. But I can’t do it alone.

Will you make a contribution to help me keep up the important work of defending Social Security from Trump’s attacks?

Thanks to this bill, retirees will see their benefits cut by $18,000 over the next seven years, even after Trump is no longer in office. Major leaders are projecting that this cut to benefits could double the poverty rate for seniors.

After a life-long career, everyone deserves the opportunity to retire with dignity. People work their entire lives for these benefits and now Trump wants to deplete the fund to give billionaires the benefits that hardworking people deserve.

So please, if you’re standing with me in the fight to protect Social Security, can I count on your support today?

PITCH IN

Thank you!

Tammy
