Most people have never heard of a judicial retention election. And that’s exactly why MAGA loves them.

This November, Pennsylvania voters will be asked a simple “Yes” or “No” on whether three Democratic justices should remain on the state Supreme Court. That’s it. No debates. No traditional campaigns. No wall-to-wall media coverage.

In most years, turnout for these races is abysmal. Voters skip the question entirely or vote “No” without even knowing who’s on the bench.

MAGA operatives have figured out that low-information, low-turnout elections are the perfect place to stage a takeover. They’ve already begun pouring millions into Pennsylvania, aiming to flip the court and secure a majority that will rule in their favor for the next decade.

Once they have that majority, they can bless gerrymandered maps, uphold voter suppression laws, and block challenges to election interference in 2026 and 2028.
