John, I’m Shannon Bird, and I’m excited to announce that I’m running to represent Colorado’s 8th District in Congress.

Growing up with a single mother and grandmother, I saw my family struggle to make ends meet. Now, I see how Trump’s tariffs are making life more expensive for all of us.

That’s why I’m running for Congress – to stand up to Trump’s attacks on our economy and democracy, and fight for a better life for Colorado’s families, seniors, and kids.

I hope you’ll join me by chipping in whatever you can today. This is going to be one of the most competitive races in the country, and I’ll need your support to flip this seat from red to blue.

After working as a lawyer, I found my love of public service volunteering in my children's schools. I worked to improve our schools, became a city councilwoman, and later was elected to the State House where I serve today.

In the legislature, I’ve fought to create and protect jobs, support our small businesses, protect abortion rights, increase public education funding, combat climate change, lower the cost of housing, and help make sure retirees get the benefits they’ve earned.

I also learned that Colorado needs a partner in the federal government to succeed. But with Donald Trump, Elon, and their allies attacking our economy and our democracy every single day – never before has this partnership been more at risk.

Congress should be burning the midnight oil to fix these things, but Congressman Gabe Evans has stayed silent. He’s accountable to Trump. I’ll be accountable to the people of the 8th District.

This is going to take all of us working together to win. Will you join our team as we work to make sure that Colorado is the place where anybody can achieve the American dream?

I’ve loved being able to serve Westminster in the State House, and I would be honored to represent the 8th District in Congress.
