SIGN THE PETITION: Trump's Secretary of Defense is platforming a far-right preacher who wants to take away women's right to vote. Speak out NOW to condemn this >>
John, disgraced former Fox News host and current Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, just shared a video saying that women shouldn't have the right to vote. [1] In 2025.
We have some bad news for him: the 19th Amendment is the law of the land. It's not going anywhere, and neither are the millions of American women who disagree with him and are prepared to use their votes to show it.
Can you add your name to send Sec. Hegseth and anyone else trying to take this country backwards a message they can't ignore >>
The video, originally posted by a far-right Twitter account, details an extremist megachurch preacher's so-called "Crusade for Christian Domination in the Age of Trump." It calls for a rollback of women’s civic rights and a return to a theocracy dominated by men. [2]
The Religious Right has tried for decades to take our country back to the 1950s and further – while, of course, ignoring all the teachings about loving thy neighbor, helping those in need, and welcoming people no matter who they are.
And this month, Common Cause is taking legal action to stop these political churches from serving as de facto Super PACs – because our country's protections for freedom of religion shouldn't be a shield to buy unlimited political influence.
If you need a reminder of why that fight to keep religious extremism out of our politics is so important, look no further than the Secretary of Defense's Twitter feed.
And, if you're a woman who values your right to vote – or anyone who believes in our 19th Amendment – can you add your name to condemn Pete Hegseth's sexist post?
Thanks for all you do,
The team at Common Cause
