Friend, Donald Trump lies – plain and simple.

Sometimes he bends the truth beyond recognition. Sometimes he bulldozes right over it. But the effect is always the same: a deliberate erosion of trust in the institutions that hold our democracy together. And now, he's doing it again.

Firing the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics for supposedly "rigging" job numbers with no evidence at all. A trusted, nonpartisan public servant gets smeared for simply doing her job. Why? Because the facts didn't suit Trump's delusional political narrative. And whom does he nominate to replace her? A crony from the Heritage Foundation who has publicly attacked that very same Bureau of Labor Statistics whenever the data does not fit the MAGA ideology.

Attacking Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and constantly pressuring him for deep interest rate cuts – making claims that our economy is "booming" even as Trump's sky-high tariffs leave businesses unable to plan and American citizens uncertain about what the future may hold.

Claiming his mass deportations target only "the worst of the worst" when, in actuality, children and families with no criminal record whatsoever are being abducted and sent away. A high school junior from Wilbur Cross in New Haven is sitting in a detention center instead of preparing for the school year. An Afghan interpreter who volunteered at risk to his own life (and that of his family) to help our U.S. military men and women stay safe during that conflict and was promised safe haven here in thanks for that service, and instead is being held by ICE. Deporting these individuals serves no purpose and no one’s interest. Except Donald Trump’s interest. And ego.

These aren't isolated incidents, friend. They're part of a pattern. Trump wants to break the public's trust in the government so he can remake it in his own image. He's chipping away at the facts, institutions, and accountability to serve himself – and only himself.

As your Senator, I'm not going to let that stand. Not now, not ever. But I need you with me.

I'm collecting 10,000 signatures on my urgent petition before midnight to send Trump a powerful message: We will not sit idle while facts are trampled, trust is diminished, and democracy is undermined. Add your name now to stand with me and push back against Trump's dangerous disinformation agenda.
