My team has emailed quite a bit over the last few days, so I wanted to take a moment to explain why these messages are so important to our campaign.

Here's the truth: I'm running for Congress because our CA-08 community needs a champion -- now more than ever. With all the chaos coming from the White House, we simply can’t afford another Trump acolyte like Jay Obernolte in Congress.

Right now, we need representatives who will protect health care access for our most vulnerable. We need to tackle climate change head on. And we need to purge the corporate interests who have a stranglehold on our political process.

But John, if we're going to do this, we need to do it the right way. That's why I'm refusing corporate PAC cash in my campaign. And it’s why I'm depending on contributions from individual donors -- coming in on emails just like this one -- to fuel our efforts.

So with that, I need to ask:
