Hi there,
It’s the end of the quarter -- a key moment in our organizing and fundraising efforts -- and also the halfway point of America’s most tumultuous year in recent memory.

How will we remember 2020? We are only halfway through a year that began with the impeachment of the President (now a distant memory), then saw the world brought to a standstill by a once-in-a-century pandemic, and then brought a national reckoning over police violence and systemic racism.
The 2020s will, I am convinced, be this century’s decisive decade when it comes to racial and economic equality, climate action, and the role of the United States in the world. And 2020 is the deciding year for that pivotal decade ahead.
Polls look good: a strong lead for Joe Biden and Democratic candidates up and down the ticket, including a strong chance of reclaiming the Senate majority. But we have over four months to go, and this year has taught us in the bluntest possible terms how much can change in a few months. So our work matters more than ever, and the urgency will mount each passing day.
At the beginning of March, when I stepped out of the presidential race, I could not have fathomed how the stakes for this election could possibly get higher. And yet they have, repeatedly, and will again.

And if the pandemic and other crises this year have created a feeling of helplessness at times, the prospect of November should arouse a feeling of hope -- and urgency. In a democracy, even a troubled one like ours, Election Day is our moment of greatest power. So we must do everything between now and then to prepare for that moment and ensure it leads to a better future.
For the rest of our lives, we will remember what we did this year. Let’s not miss any part of the chance to make change.
Thanks,
Pete
