The August Papers

This month, throughout the August District Work Period, I want to take some time to highlight my work on the Committee on Appropriations. Each year, the Committee on Appropriations works to pass 12 bills that cover the spending policy of the American government. As a member of the Committee, I have the honor of working alongside my fellow Appropriators to advocate for Mississippi and Trump’s America First Agenda.

Throughout August, I wanted to give you some insight into how the Appropriations process works and what I do to advocate for the Third Congressional District of Mississippi. As we work through all 12 of the bills over the course of August, I hope to give you a better idea about my work on the Committee on Appropriations.

During the Spring and into the Summer, the Committee on Appropriations will meet and have what are called markups. In these markups, members will debate amendments and work together to decide on what policies are included in each bill. This week’s paper will highlight the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill and the Defense Appropriations Bill.
