At a recent Fraser Institute event, renowned author Dr. Bjorn Lomborg shared a startling projection: by the year 2100, developing countries will account for nearly 87% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

In contrast, the United States will contribute just over 5%, and all other developed nations – including Canada – will collectively account for less than 8%.

His message was clear: if we want to meaningfully address greenhouse gas emissions, we must focus on global solutions, not just domestic targets.

And that’s exactly what we’re doing at here at the Fraser Institute – one of our recent studies found that replacing coal in Asia with cleaner-burning Canadian liquified natural gas could lead to substantial global emissions reductions, far beyond what Canada can achieve through domestic policy alone.
