John — you've got to be kidding me…
My opponent, Shri Thanedar, just broke the law by failing to disclose a stock trade. We don't need Democrats like this in Congress – chip in a split contribution to help me defeat him >>
The STOCK Act, passed in 2012, is meant to prevent members of Congress from participating in insider trading. Representatives are supposed to disclose when they buy and sell stock.
Shri disclosed his purchase over 400 days late. Since then, the stock is up 193%.
What's the consequence?
A $200 fine.
This is ridiculous, John – working class people are thrown IN JAIL for far less, yet our corrupt member of Congress gets to escape accountability. So much of our national politics is based on a system where there’s one set of rules for rich people and another set for the rest of us. But I know we deserve better, and that’s why I’m running for Congress.
Here's the kicker: Shri has managed to stay in office only because he funds his campaigns with money from Republican donors and these very same stock investments. He's corrupt to the core and failing to represent us and millions of Democrats across the country.
In solidarity,
Donavan McKinney
