John, this is the DC Dems. We are reaching out to you because, in a blatant display of unnecessary force, President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard in our city and seized control of our police.
Trump is claiming there's a crime emergency here in DC, that it's been "overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals," but that is just a bold-faced lie.
To quote our Attorney General Brian Schwalb, "There is no crime emergency in the District of Columbia. Violent crime in DC reached historic 30-year lows last year, and is down another 26% so far this year."
But Donald Trump doesn't care about the truth, and frankly, he doesn't care about crime either. All he cares about is getting to flex his wannabe dictator muscles to scare us into submission. But we're not backing down.
