Add your name to the petition to tell the Senate: Repeal the cuts passed in Trump’s Big Ugly Bill!
Dear MoveOn member,
Millions of Americans are on the brink of losing health care and food assistance due to the passage of Trump’s Big Ugly Bill last month. But this fight isn’t over. The Senate can—and must—repeal these cruel cuts that, if allowed to go into effect—will hurt everyday families who are already struggling.
The passage of Trump’s Big Ugly Bill was the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in American history—giving historic tax breaks to the wealthy and worsening already staggering income inequality in the U.S.1 From kicking more than 15 million people off their health insurance to cutting nutrition assistance more than ever before, the bill puts the health and well-being of people in jeopardy.2
Will you sign the petition to urge the Senate to act quickly and reverse the cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act?
Democrats in the Senate have introduced legislation that would repeal the health care cuts made in Trump's dangerous tax bill, including extending the ACA premium tax credits and restoring Medicaid coverage.3 But every single member needs to hear from constituents that we expect them to deliver on these repeals—and more.
Because here's the truth: When America invests in billionaires like Elon Musk, we get chaos and destruction. But when we invest in people and families, our communities are healthier and more vibrant, and our country is stronger.
Our senators need us to remind them who they answer to. Not Trump. Not their billionaire buddies. But us—their constituents. Add your name to the petition and demand they make repealing these harmful cuts a priority!
For decades, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has helped working families, aging loved ones, and people struggling to make ends meet afford something as fundamental and basic as food. More than 40 million people rely on SNAP for healthy meals—and nearly 40% are children.4,5
And in the last budget, Trump and Republicans literally stole food out of our children’s mouths when they cut a shocking $300 billion from the program.6 Children, seniors, and veterans will go hungry because of Republicans' cowardice and greed.
There's still time to reverse provisions of this unpopular and harmful bill. Add your name to the petition and demand the Senate rollback cuts to health care and nutrition assistance!
While the rich get richer, millions of Americans are going to be left without a safety net and without health care. Trump’s budget cut more than $1.1 trillion for Medicaid, Medicare, and plans under the Affordable Care Act.7 Make no mistake—these cuts will cost lives. And entire communities will be devastated because of them.
But from petitions to letters to town halls, constituents are making their voices heard and reminding members of Congress that they are supposed to represent the people. From California to Nebraska, representatives are being met with public outrage and frustration over the cuts.8 But we have to keep up the pressure and make sure they know that people from every corner of the country are mobilized and ready to fight for our care.
Trump and Republicans promised not to touch Medicare and Medicaid, because they know how popular those programs are with the majority of Americans.9 But they lied and cut it anyway. Now, they have to answer to us.
They can ignore one of us. They can ignore a few of us. But they can’t ignore all of us. Will you sign the petition to demand Congress reverse the damage caused in Trump’s Big Ugly Bill and then share with three friends to help spread the word?
Thanks for all you do.
