Over 1,500 people have now been killed trying to access aid in Gaza. Whilst the British government claims its plans to use the recognition of Palestine as a lever with which to apply pressure, in reality, nuclear-armed Israel is now threatening a full military occupation of Gaza. It is clear that the government needs to apply greater pressure.
This is why 300,000 people marched in London to demand that Britain stops arming Israel. You can watch CND General Secretary Sophie Bolt's speech from the demonstration on Instagram and Facebook, where she drew parallels between the devastation following the atomic bombings of Japan and the ongoing destruction of Gaza.
British spy flights from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus have been running with grim regularity over Gaza since October 2023, with intelligence then fed to an Israeli war machine that is killing civilians every day.

Remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki 80 years on
CND groups across the country hosted a series of moving events throughout last week to mark the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Japan and pay tribute to the victims and survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. These included candle floats, peace picnics, film screenings, remembrance ceremonies, church services, street stalls, and wreath laying.
We'd like to thank everybody for their efforts in making these events such a success. The anniversary is such an important reminder of the devastating consequences of nuclear weapons and bring our campaign to new audiences.

You can view a gallery of images from some of the events which took place here. It also includes some local and national press coverage, including pieces from CND Vice-Presidents Caroline Lucas and Jeremy Corbyn, who represented CND at the commemoration events in Japan.
