John, Donald Trump is gutting one of the most important pillars of our economy — the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The BLS provides the monthly jobs reports and economic data that businesses, workers, and policymakers rely on to make decisions. But now Trump’s handpicked nominee, far-right economist E.J. Antoni, wants to suspend these reports entirely. |

If they succeed, job numbers will be released less frequently, less accurately, and more easily manipulated to make Trump look good — no matter how badly working Americans are struggling.
We’ve seen this before. During COVID, Trump said to “stop testing” so the infection numbers wouldn’t go up. Now he’s trying the same trick with our economy — hiding the truth to sell a false narrative of “success” while the middle class falls further behind.
Destroying the credibility of the BLS means destroying our ability to know whether jobs are growing, wages are rising, or the economy is actually working for us. This is economic gaslighting at a time when working families are struggling and the gap between the wealthy and everyone else grows wider by the day.
We can’t let Trump rewrite reality. The working class needs the truth, not propaganda.
