Dear Friend,
Our Emgage team was honored to host a panel at Netroots Nation, the largest annual gathering of progressive organizers and movement leaders in the United States. Selected through a competitive process, our session brought together diverse voices to unpack 2024 Muslim American voter trends, protest at the ballot box, and the path forward for building lasting political power. |
This conversation came at a defining moment. The recent election cycle presented profound challenges for the Muslim American community. We faced the reality that a political party many have long called home, alongside the former Administration, enabled what many state is one of the most documented genocides in history. In the midst of this collective grief, we also shouldered the responsibility of safeguarding our democracy.
Muslim Americans are not a monolith, our diversity is our greatest strength. While Gaza weighed heavily on our hearts, a wide range of domestic and foreign issues shaped our decisions at the polls. Our panel confronted harmful narratives, uplifted grassroots strategies from across the country, and provided a preview of our upcoming data report highlighting Muslim voter turnout and debunking the myth that Muslims were to blame for Trump's election, while addressing the pressing question: what went wrong, and how do we move forward?
