Corporation for Public Braodcasting Will Shut Down: The company is among the first casualties of a vote to strip roughly $500 million in federal funding from NPR, PBS and local stations across the country.

House Republicans recently approved Trump’s plan to gut public media.

This isn’t only an attack on public media, this is an attack on all of us.

Communities across the country rely on public news, radio, and broadcasting to access local and national news, children’s education and entertainment, and even emergency alerts.

In fact, when North Carolina faced widespread power, cellular, and internet outages due to Hurricane Helene, public radio was one of the only avenues communities could count on for emergency alerts and updates. Cutting funding for public media means that millions will lose access to these critical resources.

But Democrats are not backing down without a fight. House Democrats voted together against the funding cut and will continue working to ensure Americans have access to the alerts, news, and educational resources they need.

And at the DNC, we’re organizing cross-country and investing in state parties to elect more Democrats who will continue to fight to protect public media and act as a check against Trump’s disastrous agenda.
