This edition highlights the launch of the #ActForSRHR campaign, a bold new digital campaign aimed at mobilising a continent-wide movement to protect and advance SRHR. Your voice matters: Introducing #ActForSRHR

Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights across Africa are eroding. Global crises and dwindling donor funds are making it difficult for grassroots organisations to provide vital services and advocate for progressive policy changes. This means less access to essential care, like STI prevention and even basic education on reproductive health, especially for those most at risk, including LGBTQIA+ youth and those in rural areas.
We are excited to introduce #ActForSRHR, a digital campaign designed to ignite a continent-wide movement for change. This campaign is about engaging men and boys as allies for gender justice, recognising intersectionality, and ensuring everyone has the right to make informed choices about their bodies, health, and future.

MATI fellow, Mpatso Kapito champions peace and gender justice in Malawi

Mpatso Kapito is a passionate community activist whose work is deeply rooted in challenging harmful cultural norms and advocating for the involvement of women in peace processes in Malawi. Kapito has resolved over fifteen cases related to land disputes and child marriages in the country.

SRHR workshop with religious leaders in Uganda

Sonke Gender Justice and MenEngage Africa convened a three-day in-depth workshop on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, bringing together sixteen religious and traditional leaders in Entebbe, Uganda.

This workshop was convened under the SRHR4ALL programme supported by NORAD to strengthen the role of faith and traditional leaders in transforming gender norms and improving access to SRHR services in their communities. Through participatory sessions and strategic partnerships, the workshop tackled key issues, including gender-based violence, safe abortion, and comprehensive sexuality education.

Streategies for Civil Society to Advocate for Ratification of the African Union Convention on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls ([link removed])

MEA hosted an intergenerational dialogue to draw attention and awareness to the recently adopted African Union Convention on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (AUCEVAWG). The dialogue, which took place on the 5^th of May 2025, identified possible strategies for advancing the convention.

Youth Leading the way on comprehensive sexuality education through research ([link removed])

As part of the SRHR4All programme, MenEngage Africa and Sonke Gender Justice collaboratively hosted a five-day training workshop in Addis Ababa from the 28^th of April to the 2^nd of May 2025. This workshop gathered fifteen young leaders and researchers from Ethiopia, Malawi, and Uganda. The workshop focused on providing Youth Participatory Action Researchers with skills and tools to undertake robust, ethical, and relevant research on Comprehensive Sexuality Education in their respective communities.

** SRHR Advocacy toolkit for young people
------------------------------------------------------------
This SRHR Advocacy Toolkit was developed to assist MenEngage Africa Youth Structures to design, develop and implement advocacy strategies focused on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). It is a collection of tools and information sourced from reputable and established organisations working in the fields of youth, advocacy and SRHR. It initially introduces the topics of sexual and reproductive health and advocacy and then provides worksheets, examples and case studies to illustrate how to develop an advocacy strategy.
