Dear Friend of Poynter,

You know the value of Poynter’s work — training journalists, defending press freedom, and strengthening democracy. But right now, journalism is under threat — and so is the business that fuels our mission.

This year alone:
* Meta ended its fact-checking partnership with PolitiFact, removing key safeguards against misinformation.
* The U.S. Department of State canceled a Poynter project to train journalists in fragile democracies in central and eastern Europe.
* Our largest teaching client, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, announced it will close, jeopardizing our programs to help local public media stations become stronger financially and better serve their communities.

But setbacks don’t stop us.

We don’t lament. We charge forward, just as we have the past 50 years.

We’re launching new initiatives like the Roy Peter Clark Chair in Writing and Editing ([link removed]) , offering free legal and safety training to newsrooms, and bringing media literacy workshops to communities nationwide.

With traditional revenue streams disappearing, we’re counting on those who know us best, you, to stand with us.

Support the next 50 years of Poynter. ([link removed]) Help us keep journalism strong.

With appreciation,

Neil Brown
President, The Poynter Institute
