Dear park advocate,

What happens in the next two weeks could change Arches and Canyonlands National Parks and Bears Ears National Monument forever. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is considering oil and gas leases right at these beloved parks' doorsteps. More than 110,000 acres of land near these parks and other protected places to be exact.

Environmentalists and national park advocates have urged the Governor of Utah to put a stop to it, but so far, he's been silent. So now our only chance to stop it is with BLM. The administration has rolled out a 30-day public comment period and that window is closing. Fast.

This is an all hands-on deck moment.

We've got until July 9th to submit comments to BLM and urge them to reject oil and
Parks and Bears Ears National Monument. Take a minute right now and submit your comments today!

The area is not just beautiful, red rock scenery. For many rural Utahns who own and work in tourism businesses, it's a foundation for their livelihoods. The area also provides outdoor recreation opportunities for the thousands who visit each year. Selling leases for oil and gas development near the parks threatens that entire
robust recreation economy AND the incredible red rock landscape.

The timing of this proposal could not be more ill-conceived in the middle of a global health crisis. How can BLM solicit comments from the public when we are supposed to be home, staying healthy and taking care of our families?

BLM is plowing ahead without little public comment opportunities. I
don't know about you friend, but that just doesn't seem right.

We've beaten back attempts to drill outside national parks before and I know we can do it again. You and I know the value of these special places, and it's time BLM understands that too. You can bet the oil and gas industry will be vocal about their support of this sale, it stands to benefit the most. So, it's up to us to make sure we send our message loud and clear: we reject drilling near our national parks!

Submitting a comment through our simple-to-use tool takes 2 minutes, and it could help protect the park forever. Don't wait, we've got less than a week to go. Submit your comments to BLM today!
