I’ve had just about enough of this.

I was on the House floor on January 6th while Trump’s people were trying to pound down the door. They set up a gallows on Capitol Hill. They smashed their way through the doors, broke windows, beat cops, smeared sh*t on walls, and pissed in closets.

We all watched thousands of Trump’s people spray bear mace on law enforcement officers, punch them, spit on them, pull them to the ground and kick them. Even beat them with the American flag. My friends, people like Capitol Police Officer Aquiliano Gonell, have permanent injuries from what Trump’s people did to them that day. Several of those officers took their own lives.

At no point did Trump lift a finger to stop any of it.

1600+ of his people were moving through the courts, receiving due process and being held responsible for their crimes. Trump pardoned every single one of them.

Trump said he couldn’t mobilize the Guard to defend the Capitol. He said only Speaker Pelosi could do it. I watched for months as thousands and thousands of his supporters swore up and down that the president couldn’t mobilize the National Guard like that.

I campaigned against people like Kari Lake, who apologized for the rioters who broke the law that day and went on to call it an inside job. Blamed the people who were in the Capitol for what Trump caused, undermined the investigations, and worked to prevent him from being impeached.

To sit through all of that and watch Trump federalize the California National Guard, deploy U.S. Marines to LA, and now send the DC Guard out on the street makes my blood boil.

He’s trying to distract us, yes. He’s trying to keep people distracted from everything he’s doing to the economy, his tax cuts for billionaires. He wants people to forget about Epstein and the Mount Everest sized pile of evidence against him. That’s all true.

But it’s also Trump taking power because he can. Because he likes dictators, and because he wants to be one.

We’ve got to do everything we possibly can to stop this guy, hold him accountable, and make sure he’s run out of office with his tail between his legs.

It’s going to take a massive amount of work, and I’m ready to do it.
