In the Military, a quick reaction force (QRF) is a pre-staged element of personnel ready to respond at a moment’s notice to a number of situations.

Most MAGA types heard about QRFs in the news at some point and never forgot it. It’s a very real thing, but it’s also the kind of acronym politicians (especially ones who never served) use to sound tough.



Turns out Trump and Pete Hegseth are setting up a “Domestic Civil Disturbance Quick Reaction Force” of hundreds of National Guard Troops who will be on standby to respond to events in U.S. cities in less than an hour.

What that actually means is that Trump is putting together a standing army that he will use to attack protesters in Democratically held cities and states. American Troops deployed on American soil against American citizens at the order of the President of the United States.

He fired senior officers he viewed as disloyal. He fired civilian leaders that wouldn’t swear an oath to him. He’s purging the ranks of anyone he deems unworthy. He’s federalized National Guard Troops and Marines and deployed them against U.S. citizens. Now, he’s putting together his own personal army for whatever purpose he wants.

The most powerful Military in history is being bent to serve the political interests of one man. That brings degradation of trust between the Armed Forces and the public, deep damage to civilian oversight of the Military, and serious risk to the American people — both in and out of uniform.

It’s unnecessary, hugely wasteful, and extremely dangerous.

This kind of thing is hard to take. But it is also a reminder of the importance of our work.
