JOHN,
Republicans in Texas know they’re in trouble. They’ve seen the polls — and they understand that if elections are fair, Democrats will win back control of Congress.
By redrawing congressional maps in their favor, they’re trying to lock in control no matter how voters feel about their disastrous agenda. This isn’t about representing the people. It’s about protecting their own political careers.
But we can stop them. Democrats in the Texas legislature have left their state to prevent a vote on the Republican maps from occurring. They are sacrificing time with their families and the careers to help save our democracy and they need our help.
That’s why I’m asking you to chip in to support the Texas Democrats in this redistricting fight. Today I am asking you to chip in not for my campaign, for the the Texas Democrats making a stand to prevent Republican gerrymandering:
The right to choose our leaders — not have them choose us — is the foundation of our democracy. The moment we let politicians redraw the rules to serve themselves, that foundation starts to crack.
Republicans are betting that these new maps will protect them. Let’s prove them wrong.
— Seth
