Governor Signs Executive Order to Support Active Forest Management
 Reflecting a shift in federal timber policy, Governor Gordon signed an Executive Order (EO) calling for an increase in active forest management. The EO will support better coordination between the Wyoming State Forestry Division and federal forest managers. Representatives from three Wyoming lumber mills as well as the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management attended the EO signing.
"Timber management is an essential for forest health and managing catastrophic wildfires," Governor Gordon said. "This EO sharpens our focus on forest management through Wyoming State Forestry and strengthens our partnerships to remove barriers and ensure healthy, productive Wyoming forests."

 The Governor joined the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police (WASCOP) to announce a $2.4 million grant from the Helmsley Charitable Trust to help officers across Wyoming's rural and frontier landscape provide Wyoming residents in crisis with 24/7 access to behavioral health professionals via telehealth. Virtual Crisis Care equips Wyoming law enforcement officers with tablets, allowing them to call on trained experts to de-escalate, assess, and stabilize individuals in a mental health crisis.

The Governor joined dignitaries and elected officials in Sheridan at the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Sheridan Memorial Hospital's new Behavioral Health Unit. This new model of mental health care will offer inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care and acute crisis stabilization, ensuring those needing mental health treatment can receive that care in the community.
The project was made a reality through partnerships and investments from multiple sources, including the private sector, the State Loan and Investment Board, local government and philanthropic foundations, reflecting a shared commitment to continuing our work to reduce Wyoming's suicide rate and provide new behavioral healthcare options in the state.

 A recent visit to a 640-acre state parcel in Teton County gave the Governor an opportunity to meet with partners who helped secure a 35-year recreational and conservation lease on the land. The State Board of Land Commissioners unanimously approved the lease in August, 2024. The visit with stakeholders included a discussion of how the lease supports the improvement of critical wildlife habitat, including elk migration and calving areas, as well as intensive weed control to prevent the spread of invasive species.
Wyoming Leaders Lend Support to Creation of Smithsonian Women's Museum
Governor Gordon joined Senators John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis along with other Wyoming leaders at an event to support creation of the Smithsonian Women's History Museum in Washington DC. In his remarks, Governor Gordon highlighted the state's important role in women's suffrage and history. "Wyoming has had all these firsts and it's a wonderful thing to celebrate. It really is fundamental to our character.”
