Dear John,
Across the country, gender transition clinics for minors are shutting their doors.
In just the last few months, at least 14 youth gender clinics across the nation have announced they are closing or ending services for those under 18 years old.
Major facilities like Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C., Denver Health, Kaiser Permanente, and others in liberal states like Connecticut, New York, and Illinois have all ceased operations or stopped providing "gender-affirming care."
But these closures are not happening in a vacuum -- they are a direct result of legal victories, state legislation, and growing public opposition to the deceitful and dangerous ideology that tells children they can "change" their biological sex.
Family Research Council has been working toward this very moment. In 2021, we helped pioneer the first SAFE Act -- legislation to protect minors from puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and gender surgeries. Arkansas became the first state to adopt this model legislation and since then, more than 27 states have passed similar SAFE Act -- style laws.
Then, when Tennessee's SAFE Act was challenged in U.S. v. Skrmetti this past year, FRC stood in the gap filing a 49-page amicus brief defending the constitutionality of the law and the biblical, biological truth it upholds.
And we won.
But Skrmetti is not the end, it's just the beginning. On August 1, New Hampshire became the only state in New England to protect minors from gender-transition procedures, after Governor Kelly Ayotte signed two bills into law.
In a liberal state like New Hampshire, that's a big win. Now we need others to follow suit.
This goes to show how important the Skrmetti decision, and the SAFE Act work that laid the foundation for it, truly was.
Will you stand with FRC to continue advancing these types of protections nationwide?
I STAND WITH FRC
When we stand for truth, it inspires others to do the same.
Consider Vanessa Sivadge, a pediatric nurse who discovered that her hospital -- despite claiming to halt "gender-affirming" procedures -- was still putting children on puberty blockers and hormones.
She blew the whistle and lost her job as a consequence. She was even visited by federal investigators -- a clear intimidation tactic employed by the previous administration!
That's why when FRC learned she had been wrongfully terminated for standing on biblical truth, we immediately took action and launched a petition demanding she be reinstated. Our petition garnered nearly 24,000 signatures.
As a former FRC intern, Vanessa learned to live out a biblical worldview in public life no matter the cost. That foundation gave her the courage to act when it mattered most. Her obedience sparked federal investigations, legislative momentum, and public awareness.
This is what happens when believers refuse to be silent.
And now, the Trump administration has reversed positions from the Biden administration, even going as far as having the Department of Health and Human Services launch an investigation against the hospital that wrongfully fired Vanessa Sivadge for blowing the whistle on their illegal activities.
In addition to this course correction, the DOJ has taken an active role in investigating the legality of "gender-affirming care" for minors as part of President Trump's executive order "Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation," including subpoenaing doctors and patient information and reviewing the possibility that these surgeries are being illegally performed or funded.
This has helped slow the damage: where moral outrage, sadly, did not compel doctors to stop their wicked practices, perhaps legal consequences will.
No matter which way the cultural winds blow, FRC will continue to boldly proclaim biblical truth, and defend it in the halls of power.
With your support, we will:
- Advocate for SAFE Act-style protections with government leaders at all levels,
- File legal briefs defending these protections as needed,
- Shine a light on clinics operating in the shadows,
- Equip churches to speak with biblical clarity,
- Mobilize prayer for righteousness in every courtroom.
Will you join us?
I SUPPORT FRC
Victories like Skrmetti prove that truth prevails -- even in a culture bent on suppressing it.
Romans 12:21 calls us to "overcome evil with good." That is at the heart of FRC's policy work, and the "why" behind our efforts to draw our culture back to truth.
We give thanks for the shift we are seeing -- hospitals retreating, legislatures acting boldly, and courts rediscovering moral courage -- yet the battle is far from over. The radical Left is doubling down, and children remain at risk from the delusion taking hold in our land -- especially in states with radical Left progressive governments.
As watchmen on the wall -- both here in Washington, D.C., and in the hearts and homes of believers across the nation -- we will never grow tired or weary. Our task is to cement these cultural victories in hearts and minds across America, regardless of the opposition, as we continue to call our nation back to the Lord and the truth of His Word.
By His grace -- and with your support -- we will keep sounding the alarm and proclaiming the hope of His design.
Thank you for standing firm for faith, family, and freedom.
