While the rest of America enjoys cheaper fill-ups, Washington drivers get the “privilege” of paying 40% more—thanks, Democrats!

Washington’s Gas Prices: Powered by Taxes and Bad Policy
Gas prices are falling nationwide… unless you live in Washington, where they’ve actually gone up compared to last year. The average gallon here is $4.41—nearly $1.30 more than the national average of $3.14—and a painful 40% higher overall. Why? Having the third-highest gas tax in the country certainly helps, along with a steady stream of Democrat-driven climate mandates and transportation policies that punish drivers. Only California and Hawaii are worse for prices, and in some counties like San Juan, you’re shelling out over $5.20 a gallon. Meanwhile, Oregonians pay about 40 cents less per gallon across the board. Washington’s political leaders promised green energy would “save” us—so far, it’s just saving us from having too much money in our wallets.

Bob Ferguson’s Transparency—Now You See It, Now You Don’t
The Washington Attorney General’s Office, led by Bob Ferguson’s crew, is playing blackout bingo with public records—slapping attorney work product privilege on emails tied to an amicus brief they filed in support of Democrat-friendly law firm Perkins Coie. The Center Square requested the records, only to receive a version so redacted it might as well have been a CIA file. When pressed, Deputy AG Christina Beusch insisted the AGO was simply protecting “mental impressions” of its attorneys as they worked “in anticipation” of filing the brief—never mind that the AGO wasn’t even a party to the lawsuit. In other words: “trust us, but don’t verify.” And good luck getting the Washington Coalition for Open Government to weigh in—they took a hard pass.

Washington’s Climate Policy: All Tax, No Benefit
New metrics from the Washington Policy Center lay bare the waste baked into Washington’s so-called Climate Commitment Act. The state is spending 141 times more per metric ton of CO₂ reduction than the private sector, and over three-quarters of the taxpayer-funded projects produce zero emissions benefit. Supporters claim the money is just “planning” for future results, but right now it looks like an expensive stalling tactic. This isn’t just bad environmental policy—it’s a massive opportunity cost. Instead of delivering real climate progress, the CCA is burning through resources that could actually make a difference, proving once again that in Olympia, green policies often mean red ink and little to no return for taxpayers.

Marie’s PR Machine Meets a Real Challenger
Senate GOP leader John Braun is jumping into the fight to take back Washington’s 3rd Congressional District from Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, whose press releases have done more heavy lifting than her actual record. Braun brings legislative experience, budget chops, and a reputation for getting things done—something Perez’s campaign is trying to counter with a predictable playbook of “he’s a career politician who loves special interests.” The district, which Trump has carried three times, is a prime GOP pickup target, and Democrats know it—hence the immediate DCCC meltdown. Perez is flush with cash and talking up “nuts-and-bolts infrastructure” wins, but voters may be more interested in whether she’s delivered results beyond photo ops. Braun, meanwhile, is starting from zero in fundraising but has local endorsements, a business background, and the advantage of running in a district that’s grown tired
of Democratic spin. This race is shaping up to be expensive, ugly, and very winnable for the GOP. Read more at the Washington State Standard.
