John,

Every year we celebrate Pride month, a time to commemorate the Stonewall riots that helped ignite the Equal Rights movement. We celebrate our friends, our family, and our neighbors in the LGBTQ+ community.

But Pride month is about more than festivals and parades. It gives us an opportunity to reflect on our fight for equality, and the work that is still ahead of us.

I urge you all to join me in recommitting to the fight for equality. Let's remember anniversaries, like today's anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, that were catalysts for change. Let's remember those in the LGBTQ+ community who lost their lives due to violence. And let's commit to becoming better allies.

A hallmark of my campaign and my administration is that every person who calls Kansas home should have equal opportunity to succeed -- regardless of whom they love, how they identify, or anything else.

I want to make this clear to every member of the LGBTQ+ community: I will never stop fighting for you.

We've made great progress here in Kansas, but we still have a long way to go to put an end to the discrimination many of our friends, family, and neighbors face today.

I want to make sure every Kansan feels loved, safe, and seen. And I hope you'll join me in doing the same.

Thank you,

Laura
