Dear John,
The Trump administration is attacking abortion care for veterans and their loved ones. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) just proposed a rule that would roll back abortion care at at a time when states continue to ban abortion across the country. We have a chance to put a stop to this harmful rule.
The proposed rule is an attack on veterans’ rights and freedoms. Access to abortion care is essential for veterans’ health, especially because veterans are more likely to experience post-traumatic stress disorder, military sexual assault, and suicidality. But by announcing this proposed new rule, the Trump administration is abandoning VA’s responsibility to "promote, preserve, or restore the health" of veterans and their loved ones.
No one should be forced to travel long distances, delay their care, or wait until they are on the brink of death to get an abortion. VA should be protecting the health and well-being of veterans and their loved ones—not forcing them to remain pregnant against their will.
Submit your comment today and help protect the rights of veterans and their loved ones to access essential health care.
Together, let’s ensure that veterans continue to have access to the abortion care they need.
In solidarity,
Jackii Wang
