Hey there! We’re Alizah, Daniel, Meredith, Keyarra, Teagan, Ava, and Charlie — the Democracy Summer Fellows here at Team Scanlon! 💌

Most of our friends are at the beach/pool, taking trips, and enjoying their summer. Trust us, we know it’s a little unusual for people our age to be spending most of our summer days writing postcards, knocking on doors, and talking about Congress instead. But honestly? We don’t really feel like we have a choice.

This administration is coming after everything — our reproductive rights, the cost of our future education and ability to buy a house, our healthcare, the climate, and so much more.

The future we want? They're trying to destroy it. So yeah, we’re young — but we’re also fired up.

That’s why we’re organizing with Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon this summer. She’s the kind of leader who actually listens to young people like us, stands up to the far-right, and gets things done. We want more of that in Washington.Photo of all the fellows together. [[link removed]]

So we aren’t just here to say hi; we have something to ask of you. Right now, we’re trying to raise an additional $5,000 to keep this program that supports our organizing running and help us reach even more voters before the summer ends. Before we saw how the sausage is made on campaigns, we thought emails like this were just marketing schemes. But we can’t believe how much it takes to run a campaign, keep the organizing going year-round, and the constant work (and expense) that comes along with it.
