WASHINGTON—The Henry M. Jackson Foundation awarded Freedom House $250,000 to support a diverse set of projects and initiatives to expand and defend freedom globally, the organizations announced today. The new gift will allow Freedom House to focus on priority initiatives, including informing policymakers, supporting human rights defenders, and mobilizing action in defense of freedom.
“The work Freedom House has been doing for decades to defend human rights, security, and prosperity at home and abroad is needed now more than ever before,” said Katy Terry, executive director of the Henry M. Jackson Foundation. “At a time when liberties are coming under increased threat around the globe, we are proud to stand with Freedom House and their principled and effective efforts to realize a vision of a world where all are free.”
“The rise of authoritarian threats around the world requires a united front in the fight for freedom,” said Gerardo Berthin and Annie Boyajian, presidents of Freedom House. “Throughout its history, the Henry M. Jackson Foundation has supported organizations that strengthen democratic institutions and cultivate informed civic leadership. This new strategic support for Freedom House will allow us to continue monitoring global threats to freedom, providing direct support to frontline human rights defenders, and advocating for lasting solutions. We are beyond grateful for their support.”
Founded in 1941, Freedom House was the first American organization to champion the advancement of freedom globally and work to secure a world where all people are free.
