Friends -

As someone who follows politics and government, you understand that Michigan's Senate race may not only determine control of the Senate, but it will also be one of the closest and most expensive races in the country.

But here is something you may not understand that we learned firsthand in our race last cycle.

On the day we won our primary, we received a huge number of contributions from something called the "Michigan Senate Democratic Nominee Fund."

It was a fund created by lots and lots of people donating to whoever wins the Democratic Primary, and it's available to the winner the moment the primary ends.

Here's why this is so important:

The Democratic candidates in Michigan's Senate race will spend whatever it takes to win the primary. And that means once it ends, they will have little to nothing in the bank while the Republican nominee is flush with cash.

Donations to the nominee fund change -- and are a shot-in-the-arm when our candidate needs it most.

Right now, the fund has $28,026 in it. We need to get that number up. Big time. So I am asking:

Can you please split a contribution between the Michigan Senate Democratic Nominee Fund and my campaign? The winner will use the resources to hold this seat and I'll use donations to my campaign to help them.

Thank you very much,

Elissa
