The National Guard is being sent to patrol D.C. Tell Congress: No troops on our streets.

ACLU Supporter, President Trump is seizing control of the Washington, D.C. police and deploying the D.C. National Guard to the streets.

This is a gross escalation – and a continuation of the President's actions to turn the military and federal power against civilians and abuse his authority as Commander in Chief to force troops to conduct immigration and law enforcement.

Congress must act. Tell your representatives: No troops on our streets. <[link removed]>

Deploying troops and federalized police to our streets isn't about safety. It's about sowing fear and chaos.

As Monica Hopkins, the executive director at the ACLU of D.C., said, Trump's action "is a blatantly phony justification for abuse of emergency powers."

This move endangers residents and troops alike. It takes the National Guard away from responding to true emergencies, like natural disasters. We can't stay silent while the military is sent to patrol our streets – our elected officials in Congress must rein in this abuse of power.

We need you with us. Join us in calling on Congress to stop the misuse of the military and end this presidential abuse of power. <[link removed]>

We've always been able to count on ACLU supporters like you to show up when it matters most – and I'm so grateful for all you do.

Thanks for being with us,
