Do you feel it in the air? The solidarity between us and our Texas union siblings as we join forces to fight back against the Trump Takeover?

Yesterday I joined Texas AFL-CIO President Rick Levy in a livestream discussion to talk about how the power of worker solidarity can stop the Republican attempt to steal the 2026 midterm election. 

As President Levy and I said in the livestream, this isn’t about Democrats versus Republicans. This is about workers versus billionaire union-busters who will stop at nothing to make money at the expense of their employees’ health and wellbeing. They aren’t afraid to fight dirty, so we cannot be afraid to fight back. 

And while we didn’t start this fight (gerrymandering Texas Republicans did), we are prepared to finish it by turning out our 2.3 million union members to vote for Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposed congressional redistricting that will ensure that for every seat Republicans steal in Texas, they’ll lose one in California. 

Election Day will be this Nov. 4, and it’s going to take all of us to turn out the vote and fight back against this president and his attempt to steal control of Congress.
