federal support for houston's covid-19 testing sites extended

‪Federal support for COVID-19 testing sites in Houston is being extended, and we are thankful to the Department of Health and Human Services for doing so.

‪But the fear-mongering and disinformation over the transition to local control - something Texas was fully prepared for - was unacceptable. ‬

‪Here’s the truth‬: there are four testing sites that are supported by the federal government in Houston, with a total of 12 employees. The transition to local control was well-known and we were ready for it. The most significant impact of the transition to local control was that those 12 employees would transition from federal employees to state and local employees.

Your ability to get a coronavirus test was never going to change. But given the uptick in cases in Houston, Admiral Giroir, who leads the federal government's testing strategy, agreed to extend the deadline.

There are a lot of fear mongering politicians who are using the uptick in COVID-19 cases in Texas to scare people. It is wrong and it needs to stop.

The capacity of our health care system is well-prepared to handle an uptick in COVID-19 cases that was inevitable after Memorial Day and mass protests in Houston. We need to remain vigilant and remain focused on targeted strategies to mitigate risks, but we can never go back to the lockdowns that were misguided in the first place.

democrats obstruct police reform

‪Nancy Pelosi would rather call Republicans murderers than work with us on police reform. Democrats in the Senate blocked even having a debate on Senator Tim Scott's commonsense bill, and House Democrats blocked any amendments to their bill that would lead to less policing.

Cancel culture is sweeping across our country, as a left wing mob targets the most important figures in America's story like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. It must stop.

With Fourth of July right around the corner, we must remind ourselves that the founding ideals of America are worth celebrating, not canceling. That's why I released a call to action to the American people: Hold the line and cancel cancel culture.
