Fellow Conservative,

Now, more than ever, it seems we need to remind our fellow citizens why we are proud to be Americans.

Ours is a nation that strives for the highest ideals of liberty and integrity, and we are privileged to live under a Constitution that affirms the inherent dignity and God-given rights of every individual. We are blessed to call America home and should do all we can to protect her.

From now until Independence Day, we are asking you to share what makes you a #ProudAmerican.

Share this on Twitter and Facebook

Here’s how you can be involved:

Share Your American Pride Locally

A simple but powerful message can make a difference in your community. Take the time to share locally why you are a #ProudAmerican. Some ideas:

  • Make a poster sign and put it in your window or in your lawn.
  • Get your kids involved! Use sidewalk chalk and write it on your driveway or sidewalk.
  • Share why you’re a #ProudAmerican with your family and friends.

Here’s a great example. See what Heritage Foundation’s Corrine Williams has done to show her American pride:

Share Your American Pride on Social Media

Record a video or share a story about America that is meaningful to you. Tag it with #ProudAmerican. You can:

  • Record a video on your cell phone sharing why you’re proud to be an American.
  • Post a story about why you’re a #ProudAmerican.
  • Snap a photo of your yard signs or sidewalk chalk and share it on your social media.

Be creative. Be Positive. And let's show America some love this 4th of July!

P.S. Here’s a list of more great ideas. And take inspiration from this great post:

On Tuesday, Heritage Action Executive Director Jessica Anderson wrote an open letter to grassroots America about the future of conservatism in our country.

In January, we knew that this year would matter. That the battle over the direction of this country would be decided at the ballot box and that the choice between socialism and freedom couldn’t be more clear...

It is fair to say that while conservatives focused on winning the debate about how our policies were better than liberal policies, the left was waging a war against America…

The fights on which conservatives have been focused are inadequate; we need to start fighting for what the left has long been targeting: America.

In her letter, she charged grassroots America to:

  1. Celebrate victories and acknowledge the ground won for conservatism
  2. Stop playing defense and go on offense to advance American interests and culture
  3. Perpetuate Informed, relentless optimism about America’s future

In Anderson’s own words: “Heritage Action is committed to this fight. We pledge to you, grassroots America, to not let you down. We will stand guard for freedom shoulder to shoulder beside you.”

What can you do to help America? For starters, you can join in with our #ProudAmerican campaign. And to help win the long term grassroots war for America, please sign up to become a Heritage Action Sentinel and fight for conservatism in your community.

  • Heritage Foundation: Mob Violence Must Not be Tolerated—On Monday, the Heritage Foundation released a commentary on the difference between patriotic American protest and violence. In the article, Edwin Meese III argues that orderly protest is part of our American tradition and is a way people can make their voices heard. But mob violence like, “rioting, looting, destroying property, and attacking fellow Americans have no place in orderly protest. They are, in fact, the very antithesis of orderly protest.”
  • Competing Policing Bills in House and Senate—Late on Thursday night, the House approved the Democrats police reform bill by a vote of 236-181. The House’s closed process with no opportunity for amendments stands in stark contrast to how the Senate approached policing reform. Leader McConnell (R-Ky.) created an open process for Senator Tim Scott’s (R-S.C.) JUSTICE Act. Democrats were invited to offer up to 20 amendments for consideration. Rather than collaborate across the aisle, all but 3 Senate Democrats just said “No” and voted against opening up debate on the Justice Act. Watch Senator Tim Scott’s powerful speech condemning Senate Democrats for their hypocrisy and refusal to work with Republicans on this issue.
  • Judicial Confirmations—On Wednesday, the Senate confirmed President Donald Trump's 200th judicial nominee.
  • House Bill to Grant DC Statehood—On Friday, House Democrats passed a D.C. statehood bill 232-180. Granting Washington, D.C. statehood is simply a bad idea. The Founders purposely put the federal capital under the control of the federal government to ensure that no state could exercise undue influence or prevent the federal government from continuing in its work. Furthermore, granting D.C. statehood would require a Constitutional amendment and is not something Congress can do via a simple legislative act.

That’s all for this week. Remember to share your American pride using the hashtag #ProudAmerican so we can follow along!
