Being an organizer means I've got a response ready for any crisis. It goes like this: Get the word out, get more people involved, get active.

When President Trump signed into law a bill to "defund" Planned Parenthood, he put nearly 200 health centers and more than a million patients at risk -- denying them the ability to access care at their trusted provider. What we need now is a MASSIVE response. We need our whole movement to stand strong and fight back.

You're a part of that, and together we are already making an impact. Here's an update on where things stand for patients right now:

As soon as the "defund" law was signed, Planned Parenthood Federation of America filed a lawsuit with Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts and Planned Parenthood Association of Utah to block it.

President Trump and his backers in Congress are causing irreparable harm to communities across the country. We're fighting back. Thousands of supporters like you added your support for our lawsuit by signing the People's Brief (There's still time to add your name: [link removed]).

If you haven't heard, we scored a major -- but temporary -- win for patients. A federal judge issued a preliminary injunction blocking the unconstitutional attempt to "defund" Planned Parenthood, allowing patients to continue to use Medicaid at Planned Parenthood health centers while the lawsuit moves forward.

The Trump administration has appealed the decision, and we'll be fighting this out in the courts for a while to come. But every day the provision to "defund" Planned Parenthood is blocked is another day that patients can keep seeing their trusted providers at Planned Parenthood health centers. Each day the "defund" is blocked is an important victory.

And this movement is getting louder. This month, Planned Parenthood organizations are hosting more than 150 events across the country to bring attention to the attempt to "defund" Planned Parenthood. Communities are gathering to tell lawmakers that they oppose this attack on Planned Parenthood, and to urge them to protect access to reproductive care.

This is what it's going to take to protect patient care and reproductive freedom. We need to be speaking out in the courts and in the streets, coming together to speak as one powerful movement.

I can't pretend that President Trump's unconstitutional law is anything but a disaster for health care and vulnerable communities in this country. This is a true moment of crisis, even with the court decision protecting care.

It's time to roll up our sleeves and do what we do. Get the word out, get more people involved, and get active. Thanks for sticking with us, we'll be in touch soon with more ways to help.

Sincerely,

Brianna Twofoot, National Organizing Director
