| John, Congress is finalizing the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations (THUD Appropriations) bill, and your voice is needed to protect public transit and passenger rail investment! The THUD Appropriations bill is a critical piece of legislation that will determine public transportation investment for the upcoming fiscal year. This funding is vital for updating America's transit systems, expanding service to underserved communities, and contributing to economic growth across the nation. Tell your members of Congress to fully fund public transit and passenger rail in the FY 2026 THUD Appropriations bill! In July, the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations marked up the THUD Appropriations bill. The House bill significantly cuts public transit and passenger rail investment. It cuts public transit investment by $1.7 billion and passenger rail investment by $2.6 billion from last year's funding levels. Conversely, the Senate's version of the bill increases public transit investment and maintains passenger rail funding. The bill provides $21.1 billion for public transit and $16.2 billion for passenger rail. It increases public transit investment by $203.3 million from last year's funding levels. Urge Congress to fully fund public transit and passenger rail in the FY 2026 THUD Appropriations bill! It only takes a few minutes to send a message. As Voices for Public Transit, it's important to raise our voices to lawmakers about the importance of properly investing in our nation's public transit and passenger rail systems. We must urge our elected officials to honor the commitments made in the Infrastructure Law and approve the full level of funding authorized by the law. Thank you for taking this important action.
