At Her Bold Move, we always ask our candidates the following question: If elected, describe how you will support women and issues that are important to the women in your district/city/state.

Here’s how Mira responded to that question – and why we are excited to see what she will do in office:

Expanding the Social Safety Net - I would like to expand the Orlando Kidz Zones, which provide services to lift families out of poverty. It provides access to early childhood programs and parenting support to get kids off to the right start, and helps support high graduation rates and career opportunities for the city’s youth.

Improving School Safety and Mental Health Resources - I would continue to expand mentoring access to girls in order to improve the school climate and reduce disciplinary incidents in schools. I would like to expand the Community Response Team that provides trained behavioral health providers when 911 callers indicate that there is a mental health emergency. Currently, the city can only respond to 1600 of the 20K annual mental health calls with a trained behavioral health team.

Women’s & Babies Hygiene - I would like to tackle period poverty and diaper needs by providing free reusable menstrual products and cloth diapers to low-income women and girls. I believe this strategy could pay for itself by decreasing landfill costs, decreasing costly sewage blockages, and decreasing contamination of recycling streams.

Mira believes people should feel a sense of connection to their local government. She is eager to engage residents most impacted by local government decisions, including the voices who are unlikely to be heard.
