The Film that started a movement
Traded tells the hauntingly raw stories of women trafficked and exploited in India. This short documentary asks viewers to sit in the silences, listen directly to survivors, and confront one of India’s most harrowing crimes.
Created by Harshit Bawa, a former STOP THE TRAFFIK colleague and now an award-winning filmmaker and Chief Impact Officer at the Impact and Dialogue Foundation, the internationally acclaimed film has received recognition from the Academy Awards and Grierson Awards. But Traded is more than just a film — it’s a catalyst for conversation, action, and change.

The Traded Outreach Programme
Through the Traded Outreach Programme, Harshit has taken the film to universities, film schools, organisations, and grassroots communities across India. Each screening is more than a showing — it’s a call to action, turning awareness into activism and challenging audiences to become part of the fight against trafficking.
Storytelling for change
This summer, Harshit returned to London to work with STOP THE TRAFFIK, including hosting a Traded screening and storytelling workshop for our team. Our data is enriched by lived experience, and that combination shapes everything we do. Harshit’s workshop explored how to transform intelligence and prevention work into powerful human stories that cut through apathy, connect emotionally, and mobilise people to act.
It was also a rare opportunity for our team to step back from day-to-day pressures, reconnect with our mission, and reflect on the people and communities we serve. The session reminded us that storytelling is not just a tool for awareness — it’s a driver of change.
** Empowering Young People

At STOP THE TRAFFIK, we partnered with Harshit to deliver multiple ‘Behind the Screens: Stories, Safety & Speaking Up’ workshops across Oasis academies in London. Using comics, interactive games, and creative projects, students explored how exploitation happens, learned to spot “red flags” online, and practised safe responses. By the end, most told us they felt more confident keeping themselves safe, understood exploitation more clearly, and knew how to help a friend who might be at risk.
These sessions weren’t just about teaching — they were a dialogue. We know that young people are the experts on what it’s like to grow up online. The workshops created a safe space for open conversation about how they interact with each other, their experiences with strangers, and the realities of their digital lives.
Hearing directly from students gave us invaluable insight into what being online looks like at their age — insight that will shape our prevention work as we expand youth-focused programmes over the next year.
** Global Intelligence
------------------------------------------------------------
Our Intelligence team continually gathers and analyses data to generate rich insights into trafficking and exploitation worldwide. One of their latest findings is a powerful reminder that online exploitation — and the risks faced by young people — are not confined to any one country. This is a global challenge requiring a global response.
From listening to students in London to tracking exploitation patterns in Kenya, we can create actionable intelligence and design targeted campaigns to disrupt exploitation wherever it happens. Because we can’t stop what we can’t see.
From the stories in Traded, to the voices of young people in London, to the data exposing exploitation in Kenya — change begins when we listen, learn, and act. Support our work to turn these stories and insights into action that protects children everywhere — online and offline.
