Dear friend,

Welcome to your Weekly Wrap, a recap of the week in the district and highlights of my work.

Last week, we marked 60 years since the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. I am working to safeguard access to the right to vote in the face of attempts to undermine faith in our electoral processes and limit access to the ballot box.

Applications for 2025 Service Academy Nominations are open. I am also including an update on my Casework on Your Corner program.

For my full recap, please read below.

Weekly Wrap: August 4 - 8, 2025

60 Years of the Voting Rights Act of 1965

6o years ago, on August 6, 1965, the historic Voting Rights Act of 1965 was signed into law. This landmark legislation prohibited racial discrimination in voting. Unfortunately, the progress of this historic legislation remains under attack, from efforts by the Administration to undermine faith in the electoral process and manipulate election infrastructure to the gerrymandering of congressional districts.

I am working to safeguard the right to vote and ensure equal access to the ballot box. I joined my colleagues in introducing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. This critical legislation restores key enforcement provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 that were previously overturned by the Supreme Court to prevent voter discrimination and intimidation at the polls.

Do you need help navigating a federal agency? My Casework on Your Corner program offers an opportunity for constituents to receive guidance on federal issues, ask questions about federal resources, and open new cases in real-time with federal agencies such as Social Security Administration (SSA), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and the U.S. Postal Service (USPS).

My Casework on your Corner program is available at three locations across the Fifth District, including Meriden, Simsbury, and Danbury.

See the full program schedule here.

That’s a wrap.

Thank you for taking the time to read this update. As always, please continue to share your thoughts and priorities with me.
