John,

I voted YES in the 1995 Quebec referendum on separation.

Not because I wanted to break up Canada.

But because I believed it was the only way to stop the relentless movement of centralisation of power in Ottawa.

What I call “imperial federalism.”

It’s unconstitutional. It stifles innovation and prevents provinces from managing their important responsibilities effectively, like health care.

It has led to bickering over funding, bureaucratic inefficiencies, and a lack of accountability at all levels of government.

It also creates resentment not just in Quebec, but in Alberta and elsewhere.

It can’t continue.

The NO side ended up winning in 1995 and despite all the promises of reforms by Ottawa, nothing changed.

On the contrary, the Liberals have since created more unconstitutional national programs that intrude on provincial powers.

I decided to go into politics in 2006 to help fix this.

But Harper did nothing to reverse the trend.

And Poilievre said he will keep all of Trudeau’s new unconstitutional programs.

We can’t expect any real change from either the Liberals or the Conservatives.

Today we’re unveiling a new PPC policy based on the principles I have been defending for two decades.

I urge you to read it on our website on this web page, or in PDF format.

The People’s Party believes it is time to return to a system of true federalism that respects our Constitution and empowers provinces to take charge of their own affairs.

And if there is another referendum in Quebec or Alberta in the coming years, we’re ready to support the YES side to break the stranglehold of imperial federalism and pave the way for a last-ditch attempt at rebalancing our federation.

This is a bold policy to save Canada before the establishment parties destroy it completely.

John, do you agree that we need real change to our federation?

If so, help the PPC spread this important policy with a $25 donation today!
