Dear John,

In this week's newsletter, honoring Purple Heart recipients, the historic achievement at our southern border, and my stops around the 16th District. If you need help with federal agencies, please reach out to one of my offices listed at the bottom of the newsletter.

Honoring the Sacrifice of Purple Heart Recipients

On Thursday, we honored the 1.8 million Purple Heart recipients and recognized the sacrifices they made to defend our nation.

Their commitment to our country and selfless service has allowed us to remain a beacon of hope and freedom to the rest of the world.

Supporting Infrastructure in the 16th District

I am committed to ensuring the 16th District has safe and reliable infrastructure. I always appreciate the opportunity to meet with local officials throughout the district.

It was great meeting with Jo Daviess County and City of Galena leaders to get an update on their proposed infrastructure and safety improvement needs.

Governor Pritzker's Misplaced Priorities

Only in Governor Pritzker’s Illinois would runaway Texas Democrats be treated like heroes. He rolls out the red carpet for duty-dodging politicians, illegal immigrants, and abortion tourists while Illinois taxpayers, job creators, and farmers deal with the consequences.

Governor Pritzker should be focused on fixing the mess in his own backyard: violent crime, out-of-control spending, and sky-high prices.

Securing our Southern Border

People throughout the 16th District are praising Republican efforts to restore law and order at our southern border. Illegal immigration is down 97%—a historic achievement.

House Republicans are working alongside President Trump to end reckless catch and release policies and ensure illegal immigrants are returned to their countries of origin, keeping our communities safe.

Remembering the Beirut Port Explosion

On Tuesday, we remembered the devastating explosion shook Beirut five years ago that claimed the lives of over 200 people and upending thousands. While this tragedy exposed deep, systemic failures in Lebanon's government, it also showed the resilience of the Lebanese people.

As we remember the victims, the United States must reaffirm our commitment to a strong, independent, and sovereign Lebanon that is free from the grip of Hezbollah.

Visiting Midwest Packaging & Container

It was great to tour Midwest Packaging & Container in Machesney Park and meet with their President, Robert Young.

Manufacturing is a critical part of the 16th District's economy, and the One Big Beautiful Bill creates opportunities for these operations to thrive!

Recognizing our Nation's Farmers at the Great American Farmers Market

Illinois farmers work tirelessly to feed and fuel our communities, all they ask for is a fair shot at success in return.

I am thrilled our nation’s farmers are getting the recognition they deserve and to have Frey Farms representing Illinois at the Great American Farmers Market!

One More Thing: Participating in the St. Jude Telethon

It was a privilege to play a small part in the 48th annual St. Jude Telethon last week at the Peoria Civic Center.

Over $12.1 million was raised for St. Jude’s to support children, treatment, and life-saving research. An amazing organization. Congratulations to everyone involved!
