TELL CONGRESS: Republicans are proposing drastic funding cuts for the 2026 elections. If
these cuts are passed, the safety, security, and freedom of our elections
will be at serious risk. Sign the petition: Fully fund the 2026 midterms to protect free elections and our voting
rights.

Republicans just released a budget bill that provides only $15 million for
election administration in states for 2026.^1 In 2020, the funding
allocation was $825 million, and the same funding is needed right now to
protect free midterm elections, upgrade outdated voting machines, and
ensure every eligible voter can access the ballot box.
When the House GOP released its budget proposal, it claimed that stopping
so-called “non-citizen voting” was a top priority.^2 This is just more
racist, anti-democratic disinformation from Republicans, all aimed at
voter suppression.
As Trump and the Texas GOP pursue extreme, partisan gerrymandering and try
to steal the 2026 midterms,^3 it’s critical that our lawmakers in Congress
prioritize fully funding elections and protecting our voting rights.

Fully funding the 2026 midterms will allow states to: update their voting
machines instead of using ones that are decades old and vulnerable to
cyberattacks, failures, and errors; lower barriers to vote in the face of
voter suppression measures that target communities of color and young
people; fight election disinformation; and give rural and low-income
communities the resources they need to administer their elections.
Instead of funding elections, Republicans are scrambling to rig the U.S.
House district maps and suppress the vote. They know Trump’s policies have
been an unpopular disaster, so they’re doing everything they can to skirt
the law and cheat to win. We must pressure lawmakers in Congress to fully
fund our elections!
