Hi, John. I wanted to share a story from Andrew, a proud dad, husband, and a Run for Something endorsee for Clarion Borough Council in Pennsylvania.
His family has been directly impacted by the recent, devastating cuts to the Department of Education, and his experience perfectly illustrates why our work is so urgent.
Andrew's wife works one-on-one with students who need additional support in general education classrooms. His son, who is Autistic, relies on that same critical support to learn and thrive alongside his peers. These cuts mean his wife’s job — and his son’s future in a general education classroom — could simply disappear.
This is what happens when public education is defunded: families suffer, kids are left behind, and classrooms become understaffed and under supported.
But Andrew isn't sitting back; he's running for office to help fix this mess.
And he's not alone. There are thousands of people like Andrew who are saying enough is enough and signing up to run for office.
But here is how you can help. Run for Something is the only organization recruiting, training, and electing young progressives at the state and local levels who will stand firm against these cuts and provide real solutions.
